Phase.3 – “Over the hill!” – Operation “Sharpe”

This phase will see the completion of the Langtoft.net mesh network. Phase.3 will be the final frontier of the broadband signal, we are hoping that we can carry a signal out of the village up to Octon Airfield, then down into the little village hamlet of Butterwick. If anyone is eager to receive broadband it is the residents of Butterwick, until we investigated in September ’04, Butterwick was registered as being under the Thwing telephone exchange, which was announced that it would be enabled for broadband in early 2005. Though the people of Butterwick knowing full well after having BT engineers out to survey the property for broadband, and reporting to them on numerous occasions they will not be able to receive broadband via the BT exchange. Langtoft.net quickly set about to extend the feasibility study to Butterwick and register interested parties to the Langtoft.net project.

So Phase.3 should see the connection of clients in Butterwick to the Langtoft.net network. We estimate that this phase will be a two to three month project, but depending on completion of Phase.1 and .2

Progress Update: Mast and Mesh working. 09/02/05

Phase 3 has already started with the introduction of the mast. This has been implemented for use with this third phase. You can find pictures of the mast above. The mast already has a mesh box attached and is ready to go. As explained above it will be used to get to Octon airfield and then the signal will be transported down to Butterwick. This will be completed when Langtoft is fully connected with all of the clients that want it are setup and using the service.

After phase 3 has been completed the Langtoft.net service will be completed. All of the time after that will be dedicated to technical support and the general running of the system.
